Uber Safety: What You Should Know Before Your Next Ride

Rideshare services like Uber have become part of everyday life. Whether you're traveling, heading home after a night out, or arranging a ride for a teenager or young adult, convenience is important—but safety should always come first.

Uber offers several safety features designed to give riders additional protection before and during a trip. Two that every rider should know about are RideCheck and PIN Verification.

RideCheck uses information from your trip to identify certain unusual situations, such as an unexpected stop or possible crash. PIN Verification adds another layer of protection by requiring your driver to enter a four-digit PIN before your trip can officially begin.

But technology is only part of staying safe.

Before getting into any rideshare vehicle:

• Match the license plate to the one shown in your app.

• Confirm the vehicle make and model.

• Check the driver's name and photo.

• Share your trip with someone you trust.

• Pay attention to your route and surroundings.

• If something doesn't look or feel right, don't get in.
